Sometimes, we measure winning or losing by the outcome of the game, not by efforts. This loss may feel disheartening, but it is an opportunity to reflect on the journey.
Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024, “Festival of Festivals,” held at the Cebu City Sports Complex on August 25, was competed by 51 (fifty-one) local government units (LGUs) from the Province of Cebu to receive that prestigious title.

“Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn. But have fun,” said Robert Kiyosaki, a famous author, for whom overcoming adversities can be challenging yet rewarding. In your learning, you begin to think creatively, like outside the box.

However, the real prize lies in the incredible display of perseverance (sleepless nights), teamwork (rigorous training and systematic hours), and passion (hearts on fire) by all the participants.

Even though we did not win, I am proud of what we have accomplished. The camaraderie and love we have shown toward our fellow Dalaguetnons and other participants made us feel like winners in our own hearts.

With their busted sounds, helping other participants perform was never a question for us. Giving hope to fellow competitors resonates within us, showing that winning is measured not only by awards but also by the impact we have on each other.

True victory shows in the strength of character, lasting connections made along the way, and the joy of participating. From our participant’s parents, families and friends who came together to support, our school heads and teachers who agreed on giving modular classes to juggle study and practice, our healthcare providers and responders who saved us from emergency situations, our choreographers and dance masters who patiently taught the beauty of dance, our LGU employees, and our Sangguniang Bayan Members especially to Councilor Ernesto M. Tangpos, Councilor Kevin V. Belandres, and Councilor Coca Nicohl B. Osorio that were so dedicated and hands-on, our 2nd District Representative Congressman Edsel Galeos for the unwavering support, our Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) volunteers, to truck owners who lend their trucks for 5 days, to Jr. Balbuena, who on his own led private donations, to our third-party providers who supported necessary food and shelter, and to all of you who prayed, and supported one or the other for a safe and meaningful participation in the Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2024.

From the bottom of our hearts, a million thanks to all of you for celebrating everyone’s efforts.
