The Municipal Government of Dalaguete and The Ruth Sembrano Foundation recently came together in a formal Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony on July 4, 2024, at the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Session Hall, Municipal Town Hall.

The MOA outlines the partnership funding of both parties in the renovation of a 3-classroom building of Tabon Elementary School located in Barangay Tabon, Dalaguete, Cebu. The Ruth Sembrano Foundation, a non-profit organization, will provide financial assistance amounting to 1.4 million pesos to provide materials, while the Municipal Government of Dalaguete will shoulder the additional cost for the successful completion of the said project.

This collaborative effort aims to enhance the educational facilities and provide a better learning environment for the students of Tabon Elementary School, signifying a mutual dedication to providing quality education to Filipino learners, especially the Dalaguetnons that will help strengthen the community.

The founder and president of The Ruth Sembrano Foundation, Josh Sembrano, expressed optimism about the partnership during the event, emphasizing, “The Foundation’s selection criteria for projects like these are the types of people that we’re helping, the passionate individuals who want to make a difference in a kid’s life no matter what.” Similarly, Municipal Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante echoed these sentiments, noting, “The people of Tabon are very passionate about sending their children to school.”

The signing ceremony was attended by The Ruth Sembrano Foundation founder, Josh Sembrano, the Program Conduit, Mario Montenegro, Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante, Vice Mayor William O. Lagahid, Sangguniang Bayan members—Hon. Kevin Belandres, Hon. Ernesto “Todidot” Tangpos and Hon. Coca Nicohl O. Bustamante, the Municipal Engineering Office, and personnel from the Municipal Education Office. Lastly, the DepEd and the school’s representatives—the Public School District Supervisor, Maria Socorro N. Relacion, the Principal of Tabon Elementary School, Risel Gutierrez, and PTA President Alma Salonoy were all there to witness the MOA signing.

Looking ahead, both parties are committed to the completion of the project, signaling a significant milestone in the education sector, with the purpose of providing quality education, creating better opportunities, and improving the lives of each individual in our community.
