In a bid to strengthen ties intra-regionally, Municipal Government of Dalaguete (MGD) Officials, led by Local Chief Executive, Hon. Ronald Allan G. Cesante, CPA, paid a courtesy visit and conducted a benchmarking activity at the City of Tagbilaran, the gateway to Bohol Province, on Friday, 28 February 2025.
MGD Officials composed of Mayor Ronnie Cesante, Vice Mayor Hon. William O. Lagahid, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Hon. Ernesto “Todidot” Tangpos and Hon. Kevin Belandres, and SK-Federation President, Hon. Danilo Sombilon, Jr., met with the ever dynamic and graceful Tagbilaran City Mayor, Hon. Jane C. Yap on Friday morning to discuss the possibility of establishing a Dalaguete-Tagbilaran maritime route.
With the Municipality of Dalaguete being hailed as the “Vegetable Basket of Cebu”and the economic and political significance of the City of Tagbilaran, this strategic alliance is believed to be a crucial driver of trade, tourism, and employment within the Central Visayas region, propelling economic growth and fostering cultural exchanges.
In addition, a Dalaguete-Tagbilaran maritime route would provide a platform for a quicker, more seamless, and more efficient travel. Separated only by a distance of about 19 nautical miles, Dalaguetnons can then easily visit their families in Tagbilaran. Similarly, Tagbilaranons may visit their families, while entrepreneurs and vegetable traders can now transport agricultural products in less than half the time it would take when traveling via Cebu City.
Aside from meeting Mayor Jane C. Yap, the company of MGD Officials also met with Tagbilaran City Administrator, Alvin Luis O. Acuzar, and Ms. Fiel Angeli E. Araoarao-Gabin, Learning Visit Coordinator from the Office of the Mayor, for a benchmarking discussion on “Digital Innovation and Efficient Operations of Government Services”.
With the future of the Dalaguetnons in mind, MGD Officials remain steadfast and committed to public service and delivering results, thereby paving the way towards a #DalagueteRising – where the future is NOW.
