More than 300 new and re-elected barangay officials from all barangays in the municipality underwent random drug testing right after they were sworn into office at the Dalaguete Sports Complex on Thursday, August 2, 2018.

This is in line with the municipality’s transparency campaign enacted by various departments including the local police, the municipal health office, the Department of Interior and Local Government and municipal government to suppress and eradicate illegal drugs within the municipality.

The activity also aims to ensure that the officials can better serve their roles in the implementation of campaign against illegal drugs, especially as leaders and members of the Municipal and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils. With the upcoming Community-Based Treatment (CBT) Program for drug surrenderees that will be implemented in the municipality this year, barangay officials are encouraged to display their earnestness and support in the campaign against illegal drugs.

More random drug testing will be conducted in various departments and sectors in support of the intensified campaign for illegal drugs in the municipality, especially on sectors that involve public service and community rapport, while making sure that illegal substances would never again peddle the streets of Dalaguete, aiming for a drug-free and relatively safe municipality.
