To integrate the Alternative transport workers sector of the Municipality of Dalaguete into the development planning and formulation of policies for general welfare, DOLE-RO 7 representative Mr. Felicito Pono Jr. was invited by Municipal Government of Dalaguete to motivate the trisikad, tricycle and habal habal drivers to exercise their right to self organization. These segments of the society are essential and indispensable to the economic standout of a community where they belong. They deserved to have the capacity to protect the interest of their group. As alternative transport workers, they contribute much to the development of our town's economy by transporting people to places where no four wheeled vehicle can traverse into.
A seminar on how to organize these sectors into a legitimate workers association for their mutual aid and protection was conducted at the Dalaguete Health Management Complex last Wednesday January 27, 2016 attended by almost 200 transport workers mostly the habal-habal or motorcycle for hire, which is still illegal in existence, tricycle and trisikad drivers. All of them signified their interest to be assisted with the DOLE -RO 7 although some group of tricycle drivers already has their registration with DOLE. They attended the seminar to inquire on how to avail of the livelihood programs of the said agency. Habal-Habal or the motorcycles for hire group were advised to still form their group although registration cannot be effective yet. The preparation of their constitution and by-laws is a must for DOLE to hear their voice for the future legalization of their operation which is still pending before the congress. DOLE promised and committed to assist these sectors in their registration process to acquire legal personality to appear before any forum of the local government as well as the National Government Agencies.
The Municipal Government of Dalaguete through the Hon. Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante, hope and wish to hear the voice of the Alternative Transport System sector before the Municipal Development Council for their mutual aid and protection for the efficiency of our road safety management system, all directed towards good governance.
