Blue sea, white sand, white beach lanterns, paddle boats adorned with vegetables - Dalaguete Beach Park came alive as street dancing to the beat of percussions by the Regla Percussionista Band and flower leis welcomed the exuberant guests of the 10th Ambassador, Consuls General and Tourism Directors Tour last July 8, 2015, the third day of their 4-day tour.
Mayor Ronnie Cesante and Vice Mayor Jeffrey Belciña together with the SB Members were present to welcome the group of nearly 400. Mayor, in his welcome message said, “We hope that your stay in Dalaguete even if so short would be memorable to all of us.”
Department of Tourism Regional Director Rowena Lu Montecillo welcomed, thanked everyone for coming and introduced Dalaguete “We are so proud of this municipality, they are known for their white sand beaches and coral, so I hope you'll have more time to swim, enjoy the sun.”
While everyone was enjoying their sumptuous lunch of native Filipino dishes served on native plates, a short cultural program commenced showcasing local Cebuano singers and dance groups.
This is the first time that the basic tour package of the ACGTDT included Manila and Cebu. The group headed by Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. consisted of delegates from Agana,Guam; Federated States of Micronesia; Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; Republic of Marshall Islands; Hawaii; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Chicago; New York and Washington.
Philippine Consul General in Chicago Generoso Calonge, in behalf of the group, expressed gratitude for the display of hospitality, and for a very impressive display of culture. “Hindi po kami makakalimot, babalik po kami”. He added “We are so happy, we cannot describe the feeling of seeing such an impressive display of friendship, hospitality, generosity, widest array of food that you can find. Marami pong Salamat”.
This is the first time for Dalaguete to have shown the beauty of the place and its people to such a large group of diplomats. The Municipal Government is thankful to be given such a privilege and hopeful that Dalaguete tourist spots be seen and experienced by more people and be shared to the world.
