The transition from boyhood to manhood for approximately 135 male Dalaguetnons was finally realized through Operation Tuli 2015 at the Dalaguete Health Management Complex by the united efforts of the Dalaguete team of nurses, midwives, NDP personnel and Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) nurses and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), rural health unit of Boljoon and local government unit of Dalaguete last Saturday, May 16, 2015.
Active municipal health officers Dr. Corazon Dotillos and Dr. Mabel Huete, of Borbon, Cebu and Poro, Camotes respectively, along with Dr. Jose Edgar V. Alonso, and Dr. Shelbay M. Blanco of Boljoon, Cebu and his team of nurses and midwives efficiently showcased surgical skills in performing circumcision procedures to male patients ages seven and above. Roughly two hundred determined boys were listed in the event, but only seventy percent had successfully undergone the procedure.
“Circumcision should not be forced to them sic transition should be rewarding, not traumatizing,” Dr. Alonso asserted.
The health office is grateful for the full support of the local government unit and enthusiastic participation from the team of doctors and Boljoon Rural Health Unit to realize this event, and is hopeful in conducting more health services to benefit the community.
