March 10, 2015 – Rising to the call of alleviating poverty in the country, the Municipal Government of Dalaguete launched KapitBisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), one of the programs of DSWD aimed to help break the poverty cycle and improve communities in the Philippines.
In the gathering of Municipal and Barangay officials, LGU participants and DSWD field Office VII officials at the Dalaguete Sports and Cultural Complex, Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante elaborated that KALAHI – CIDSS is directed to the community. “The help will be focused on the community in order for them to be responsible and will give them the body and soul,” these were the inspiring words during his speech.
Miss Shalaine Marie S. Lucero (ARDO/ Regional Program Manager DSWD stated that there will be Php80M worth of projects in Dalaguete in 4 years of implementation. Aside from that, for this year 2015 Dalaguete will be able to utilize the following series of amounts: (1) Php42.7M will be given to 3,565 Dalaguete Pantawid Family beneficiaries. (2) Php4.2M will go towards supplementary feeding of 1,653 children in Day Care Centers. (3) Php3.2M will be for the social pension for 540 senior citizen beneficiaries.
The Municipality of Dalaguete is the first municipality in Cebu to implement the KALAHI-CIDSS program under the 293 categories which will be implemented on August 2015. KALAHI-CIDSS will not only empower people but will also transform communities and improve their relations with the LGU thru DSWD.
