Dalaguete Joins in the 22nd National Children’s Month Celebration

IMG 2787The scorching heat of the sun wasn’t able to stop the enthusiasm of the day care pupils and their parents to parade as Dalaguete joins the Council for the Welfare of Children in celebrating the 22nd National Children’s Month in the morning of October 21, 2014.This year’s theme: “Bata Kasali Ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga”, gives emphasis on the significance of a child’s role in the family and society that, what he feels, thinks, and does, matters as well.

A short program hosted by Mrs. Ellen Suarez held at the Dalaguete Sports Complex highlighted the event. It was attended by the Dalaguete Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWD) headed by Mrs. Evelyn Sarmago (MSWDO), Dr. Carlo Bejarasco (GPBP), SB members Hon. William Lagahid and Hon. Casay DCC1 opened the program with a doxology and the DNHS band played the National Anthem.Mrs. Evelyn Sarmago welcomed everyone and stressed the vital role and responsibilities of parents to their children, that is, to take care of them and provide for their needs.

Dr. Carlo Bejarasco acknowledged the efforts of the children and parents who woke up early to be able to join in on the parade. Having been a teacher for 14 years, he spoke on the great challenges that day care center workers are facing, that of it being a formal education and the next level teachers have great expectations that after day care these children are already prepared and ready to learn. He also emphasized the fundamental role of both parents in bringing up their child.

IMG 2800A singing contest participated by 5 pupils endowed with great vocals and “Draw and Tell”, a contest of creative thinking wherein 5 pupils were made to draw something and they need to interpret what they have drawn was about, made the event awe-inspiring. These 10 children in total displayed great confidence, remarkable memory, and determined spirit to bring themselves up to stand in front of the crowd whether to deliver their songs or talk about their drawings.

Intermission numbers were presented showcasing these little learners’ passion for dancing. Poblacion DCC1 pre-schoolers delighted everyone with “Cariñosa” while Obong DCC pre-schoolers livened the atmosphere with “Dance Again”.
