Under the blazing heat of the sun, the Municipal Government of Dalaguete headed by Honorable Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante, unites with the rest of the country in the celebration of the 116th Independence Day.
The program started with the raising of the flag by Hon. Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante and Vice Mayor Jeffrey B. Belciña with the Philippine National Anthem lead by SPO1 Ethel C. Teves. The Pledge of Allegiance followed and was led by Vice Mayor Jeffrey Belciña. In memory of the fallen heroes and the lives lost in the fight for freedom, flowers were offered by the Municipal Officials Department Heads, Dalaguete PNP, Dalaguete Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), DepEd Secondary School Teachers, and DepEd District 1 teachers.
Police Senior Inspector Rico Emperwa delivered a message from the head of the Philippine National Police, Police Director General Alan La Madrid Purisima. In the message, PDG Purisima called on to policemen to deliver true service while following the path of righteousness, uphold peace in the community and follow footsteps of a "Dakilang Pinoy", one who is not easily swayed by trials and temptations, ready and alert to serve at all times, and courageous enough never to back down in facing the wrath of nature. He urged them to be a "kaibigan, kapatid, ama, guro sa ating mamamayan", friend, brother, father, teacher to the citizens. PSI Emperwa, as the Police Chief of Dalaguete, added that the people can count on his unrelenting service.
Vice Mayor Jeffrey Belciña also gave a message reminding us of the essence of indepedence and that it is an inherent right and no one can take it from us.
The Prayers of the Faithful followed, and was led by Mr. Valerio C. Amamangpang, Mrs. Tomasa Entice and Mrs. Aloha Bengcolita.
The celebration ended with the mass singing of "Bayan Ko" and "Pilipinas Kong Mahal".
