The Municipal Government of Dalaguete took part with the Earth Hour 2012 by also encouraging barangay governments, national line agencies, and private sector for unity and coordination of the activity last March 31, 2012 from 8:30 – 9:30 PM.
The event that started last 2007 and observed every last Saturday of March had encouraged more and more individuals to participate and contribute, through global awareness on the use of energy in our environment, to preserve Mother Earth.
In Dalaguete, government agencies and private sector switched off lights and non-essential appliances. Major establishments such as the Municipal Hall and the Dalaguete Commercial Center were lighted off. The church plaza and seaside area, which used to be a favorite hangout places at night with its sufficient lighting, was very dark as lights installed at the front portion of the church, and lamp posts at the plaza and at the boulevard were all turned off.
Street lights in Poblacion and Tapon were also switched off during this year’s Earth Hour that was also joined by two major resorts of Dalaguete.
