(Updated) In its vigorous effort to live up to its Summer Capital of Cebu reputation and in consonance with the forthcoming 54th Annual Fiesta in honor of San Isidro Labrador, Patron Saint of the town’s dominantly agricultural highland barangays come May 14-15, 2012, the Municipal Government of Dalaguete will hold the first ever Mantalongon Off-Road Duathlon this coming May 12, 2012 (Saturday) at 1:00 PM.
The race will feature a 3K-run followed with a 15K-bike and culminate with a 6K-run. Participants will be gunning for the top 3 major purse each for the Male and Female categories. Minor prizes include male’s 19-and-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50-and-above age groups.
Participants will be provided with free transportation from the Cebu City Sports Center to Mantalongon in the morning of the scheduled race date. Return trip to the city after the race will also be provided for. Some rooms at the nearby Mantalongon Elementary School will be utilized, on a first come first serve basis, as a holding area for those who want to stay overnight prior to the race.
A more comfortable traversing trip towards Mantalongon awaits participants and visitors as the on-going improvement/widening/concreting of Poblacion-Mantalongon Road is expected to be completed in time for the event. Likewise, the 18-kilometer Circumferential Road venue will pass through breath-taking hills and valleys patched with lush vegetations, which will give an idea to the contestants and visitors alike as to why Dalaguete is also considered the Vegetable Basket of the Province.
