SILAW held its Annual Family Forum and Assistance DistributionWritten by Walter B. Sasam

A total of 982 SILAW families received food assistance of 10 kilos of rice as the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office (MSWDO) held its annual SILAW family forum for its beneficiaries.The said forum was started by a celebrating Mass at three different parishes; as the SILAW members were grouped into three batches.
The first batch were the coastal barangays comprising of Poblacion, Tapon, Balud, Consolacion, Obong, Sacsac, Manangal, Coro, Jolomaynon, and Caliongan. The Mass was held at San Guillermo de Aquitania Parish in Poblacion, Dalaguete in the morning of December 13, 2013; and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Bernard D. Oyao. These ten barangays had 294 total families present during the forum and received the food assistance.
The second batch composed of barangays, Cawayan, Banhigan, Casay, Lumbang, Malones, Lanao, Tuba and Pañas. The Mass for this batch was held at Sta. Monica Parish in Cawayan, Dalaguete in the afternoon of December 13, 2013; and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Zachary Honoria Zacarias. These eight barangays had 209 total families present and had received the food assistance.
Lastly, the third batch composed by upland barangays: Mantalongon, Obo, Langkas, Ablayan, Dumalan, Tabon, Nalhub, Catolohan, Caleriohan, Dugyan, Maloray, Manlapay, Babayongan, Bulak, and Salug. The Mass was organized and took part at San Isidro Parish in Mantalongon, Dalaguete on December 16, 2013; and celebrated by Rev. Fr. Mario Atienza. These fifteen barangays had 479 total families present and received the food assistance.
After the Mass, each SILAW family head were taken ID pictures that will be used in the SILAW Member ID Card. This ID card will serve as a distinct identification for each SILAW beneficiary. Also, it will be used in any public transactions by the member within the municipality. Hence, it will be used to exercise the benefits of a SILAW member.
The event was made successful through the efforts of Ms. Jona Villahermosa of MSWDO, focal person for SILAW program, being assisted by Ms. Jane Villahermosa of MSWDO, focal person for Early Childhood Development, the Day Care Workers of each respective barangays for the swift and orderly ID picture taking, and the rest of the staff facilitating the transportation, delivery, and distribution of the goods.
