An increase of budget for the municipal scholars has been allocated for this 2012-2013 school year. This after 13 new scholars had been added to the roster of college scholars while first year high school scholars ballooned to 30 from last year’s 20.
Almost 1.1 million pesos had been allotted by the Municipal Government of Dalaguete for the 91 high school and 26 college scholars. Of the 26 college scholars, seven of whom are 2nd year students, three are 3rd year, and another three are 4th year students.
Scholars’ tuition fees will be shouldered by MGD and they will receive uniform/book allowances (for college scholars) or uniform allowances (for high school scholars), except for those who have earned other scholarships that offer both benefits. Aside from these, each scholar will also receive monthly stipend.
The most recent scholars were the successful examiners during the qualifying scholarship examination given last March 23, 2012 held at the Dalaguete National High School (DNHS) and Mantalongon National High School (MNHS) for high school examiners while college scholarship exam took place also at DNHS.
The Dalaguete Municipal Scholarship Program is a brainchild program of Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante that has continuously given opportunities to the intelligent but poor students since 1997 and had produced a total of 23 college scholar graduates.
