The Municipal Government of Dalaguete (MGD) through the Dalaguete Online Labor Access Resource (DOLLAR)/Public Employment Services Office (PESO) held a PRE-EMPLOYMENT SEMINAR-WORKSHOP on October 18-19, 2012 at the Dalaguete Sports & Cultural Center. It was participated by more than 200 graduating trainees of Dalaguete Skills Training & Resource (STAR) Center and jobseekers from Dalaguete and its neighboring municipalities.
The Activity was part of Mayor Ronald Allan Cesante’s advocacy in enhancing the skills of jobseekers to increase their “employability” thus addressing unemployment in our municipality. It was also conducted in preparation for the November 17 Dalaguete Job Fair which is going to be a big event that will be participated by local employers and placement agencies for overseas employment.
Topics such as Preparation of Cover Letter and Resumé as well as Preparing for Job Interviews were highlighted during the Seminar. Lectures and discussions were given by the guest speakers, Mr. Bill Flannery and Mr. Paul Marvel who also facilitated the workshops that enabled the participants to practice preparing their own cover letters and resumés. Outputs were reviewed and feedback was given to the participants to improve their cover letters and resumés. The Resource Persons, likewise, provided mock interviews that demonstrated the essential skills of a well-prepared jobseeker.
The Pre-Employment Seminar-Workshop was a success as reflected on the Training Evaluation of the participants who gave very high ratings to the three Guest Speakers as well as the methodologies that were used on the different topics. The jobseekers were so grateful for the rare opportunity that the Municipal Government of Dalaguete gave them in preparation for their job search. DOLLAR/PESO Manager, Ms. Ma. Lizara Soloriano, provided the jobseekers with information on the scheduled Job Fair stressing on the relevant documents that they need to prepare and bring during this event. She also assured the jobseekers that her office is always open to queries and requests that are related to employment.
