Dalaguete joins Run 2 Plant 4 Greenin PhilippinesWritten by Dalgte

1000 native tree seedlings were planted last Saturday morning, June 30, 2012, during the second edition of the province-wide Run 2 Plant 4 Greenin (Generation Redemption and Expansion of Natural resources Initiatives) Philippines at the Dalaguete Forest Reserve along Dalaguete River that covers Sitio Ilaya of Barangay Poblacion, and portions of Jolomaynon, Tapon, and Sacsac barangays.
Around 300 participants gathered at the oval ground of Dalaguete National High School early Saturday morning, preparing for the run that kicked off past 6 AM towards the planting area of at most four kilometers from the starting venue.
The event was participated by the students and teachers of DNHS, St. Mary’s Academy of Dalaguete, and University of the Visayas – Dalaguete for the school category while members of Dalaguete Volleyball Association (DAVA), employees of the Municipal Government of Dalaguete and DPWH, PNP personnel, Poblacion Barangay Council, and some private individuals also supported the annual environmental activity that was launched by Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) last year.
Fiber Industry Development Authority (FIDA) Region 7 OIC, Benjamin S. Gomo, also joined the run and tree planting activity that planted native trees like Molave, Kamansi, Malabakhaw, Gapas-gapas, Sala, Pomelo, Hambabalud, among others.
The project was held in line with Executive Order No. 26 or the National Greening Program of President Benigno Aquino III and the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Billion Trees Program.
