March 26, 2013 – Director Ananias M. Villacorta of DILG-7 handed over formally to Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante PhP1M as part of the Php2.3M Caleriohan Water System Upgrading Project (CWSUP). Witnessed by the Dalaguete local government officials headed by Hon. Juan M. Lodovice, barangay captain of Caleriohan, and Ms. Lilia C. Muñoz, the Municipal Treasurer, CWSUP is made possible by the Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat (Salintubig) Program of the DILG under the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) of the Aquino Administration’s Empowerment of the Poor Program (EPP).
Director Villacorta’s visit was his first although his father was from Dalaguete. Together with him were Mr. Randel P. Jayme, LGOO VI and former Dalaguete MLGOO, and Ms. Susan Tolentino, currently the municipality’s local government operations officer. The occasion was also graced by Engr. Donald Lara, officer-in-charge of the Municipal Engineering Office; Hon. Eriberto C. Bentazal, ABC President; Mr. Simeon Barrit Jr. and Mr. Larry Rosero of the Municipal Planning and Development Office; Mr. Felix Omilig, head of the Public Market Administrator’s Office; Mr. Paul Llido, consultant for research and development; Hon. Heracleto L. Catalan, barangay captain of Dugyan, and Mr. Danilo A. Sombilon, civil society organization representative on water. The proposed Caleriohan Water System Upgrading Project is a response to the basic government mandate of providing readily accessible source of potable water as stipulated in the Philippine Millennium Development Goals. Caleriohan already has an existing water system project but using 38mm PVC pipes to connect the two steel water reservoirs from Basang Pangpang water source to the Lingatong water reservoir had repeatedly resulted to pipe bursting along the stretch. The need to overhaul and upgrade the existing pipeline infrastructure will cost PhP 2.3M, the greater bulk of which comes from the national government through the DILG GAA Provision. The municipal government of Dalaguete will contribute PhP 200,000.00 and the remaining PhP 100,000.00 will come from Caleriohan.
