July 1, 2013 – Before the presence of the Hon. Thelma M. de los Santos, the Municipal Trial Court Judge, the new set of government officials of the Municipality of Dalaguete headed by Hon. Mayor Ronald Allan G. Cesante was sworn in to office during an austere yet meaningful oath taking ceremony at the Dalaguete Sports and Cultural Complex.
Also taking their oath of office before Judge de los Santos were Hon. Vice Mayor Jeffrey Belciña, and the new Sangguniang Bayan Members: Hon. William Lagahid, Hon. Kevin Belandres, Hon. John Retz Osorio, Hon. Estanisla Alamagro, Hon. Francis Sydney Belciña, Hon. Mario Montenegro, Hon. Juan Moran, and Hon. Teofilo Dicdican.
The day-long affair started with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration offered by Rev. Msgr. Phil Tumulak. During the homily, Rev. Fr. Lemuel Ejercito emphasized the need for a leader to be visionary, somebody who knows where to bring his flock. Together with Rev. Fr. Froilan Beltran, the new government officials received blessings from Rev. Fr. Mario Atienza. A sumptuous buffet lunch which was enjoyed by the well-wishers consisting of the families of the elected officials, invited guests, the barangay officials, and the government employees was tendered by the Municipality.
The oath taking commenced after lunch. Most of the elected officials thanked the public and their families for the support they were given during the last election. After Mayor Cesante was sworn in to office by Judge de los Santos, he reminisced his journey into office in his nostalgic message. It is the Mayor’s ninth oath taking-once as an SB Member, thrice as the Vice Mayor and five times as the Mayor.
In his first term as the Mayor, Mayor Cesante’s goal was the strengthening of the basic services of the Municipality through his flagship projects such as SILAW, DALAKIT, STAR Center, and the restructuring of education support. His second term has seen the building of infrastructure support such as public market buildings, electrification of far-flung barangays and the concreting of roads. What he has started in six years was strengthened during his third term by securing our niche in the context of the province and the national government. On his fourth term, Mayor Cesante reinvigorated all aspects of public service for a more accountable, transparent and proactive local governance. On his fifth and current term as the Mayor, the Municipality will see further strengthening of the support base, more innovations in education and industry location in Dalaguete.
During the affair, the services of the past Sangguniang Bayan members were also recognized. A plaque of appreciation and endearment was bestowed each to Hon. Federico Muñoz and Hon. Amando Amazona Jr. Light number was presented by the Dalaguete Music Foundation Choir under Bro. Fritzel Liston. The affair ended with the resounding promise of a better Dalaguete permeating the air.
